The Developmental Disabilities Council is excited to introduce two new team members that came on November 1st!
Christie Chiles, our new Communications and Admin Lead, has a background as the Information Services Director and Parent to Parent Coordinator for The Arc of Grays Harbor. Christie’s dedication to the IDD field is deeply rooted in personal and community experiences. Christie is an enthusiastic knitter and loves audiobooks and podcasts. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and playing board games. She lives in Elma, Washington, where she grew up, and has three kids. Christie is excited to join the DDC staff team and wholeheartedly support the Council’s mission.
Kevin Vargas, our new Contracts and State Plan Coordinator, brings lived experience with the IDD community, direct service with vulnerable populations and program/contract management. He has a passion for empowering and serving underserved communities and worked in non-profit social services for almost a decade. He lives in Seattle and his favorite hobbies include playing soccer, snowboarding and reading books on social issues. He’s excited about the opportunity to join the DDC, as this work means so much to him and also grants him the opportunity to further develop and gain new skills.
